The Statics are this weeks hot press band of the week for Johnny Bowe on Radio Nova’s Locals Only. They formed in 2010 and the band consists of Liam Gardner (Lead Vocal/Guitar), Daragh O’Connell (Guitar/Vocals), Jacqueline Campion (Drums) and Thomas Nugent (Bass). These guys were Hot Press band of the week a few weeks back and here they are live, talking to Johnny Bowe on Radio Nova’s Locals Only. The Flaws are an indie-rock quartet – Irish Choice Music Prize-nominees, Meteor Award nominated, from Carrickmacross in County Monaghan and Dundalk in County Louth. They’re latest single ‘Animals’ is preformed live in studio and is the first song on their keenly awaited forthcoming album “Springtime for The Flaws”

Fox Jaw are an Irish rock group with have a modern feel but an old soul producing a trend shaking, majestic deep growl, which swaggers from the terrific to the sublime. Melodic and honest in their approach their songs can be dark. “A seductively gloomy sound in a league of its own … will both mystify and satisfy” (State.ie) “One of Ireland’s most inventive and engaging rock bands” (Hotpress). ‘Ghost’s Parade’, was recorded with producer Dave ‘Skippy’ Christophers (Josh Ritter, Whipping Boy, Mundy) & engineer Owen Lewis (Flogging Molly, Snow Patrol, REM), and mastered at Wav Mastering by Richard Dowling (David Bowie, Foo Fighters, Interpol). These two Irish guys met in a dusty library in Liverpool in 2007, Oisin Leech is from Navan, Mark McCausland is from Omagh. The pair shared the same love of music (from the Carter Family to Sam Cooke, Mississippi John Hurt to Dion and the Bellmonts, Phil Spector to the Louvin Brothers, the Impressions to Van Morrison), and before long, were jamming together in the dive bars of Liverpool when not on the road with their bands. The flaws formed in Spring of 2004, releasing their debut EP in the Summer of 2005, they have released to more albums since – ‘Achieving vagueness’ in 2007 and ‘Constant adventure’ in 2010. The Flaws are Paul Finn on Vocals/Guitar, Dane McMahon on Bass/Backing Vocals, Shane Malone, Lead Guitar and drummer Colin Berrill, the band are managed by Irish music industry legend Derek Turner. They talk to us at Radio Nova about future plans and current successes.

Nick Kelly (aka Irish Legends – the fat lady sings) released three songs under the pseudonym Alien Envoy after lots of radio play and a great response to the sound Alien Envoy were formed. Having played almost every venue in Dublin, this Dublin quartet are the ones to watch. Future Phantoms have just released their EP ‘ESCAPADES’ with their début single “Until I see the sun” – its the summer of 2014 and with influences like Sterophonics and Jam we’re sure to be hearing more from these guys.
